What the specialist will work on
The specialist needs to be an experienced project manager with a background of managing IT projects and successfully delivering against milestones.As part of a major programme to provide 5 health assessment suppliers with a managed IT service which includes DWP provided networks, end user devices and software, as well as an externally procured case management service, the department is looking for an IT delivery manager with experience of successfully managing the transition of organisations to new IT services and ways of working, against challenging milestones.
WORK SETUP
Address where the work will take place
Primarily at the North West DWP Digital Corporate Hubs - St Peters Square, Manchester and Peel Park, Blackpool - although there may be a requirement to travel to other DWP locations.
Working arrangements
Specialist will work 5 working days per week. At least 40% of their time is expected to be in a DWP North West hub office. There may be some travel required to other locations.
Security clearance
All suppliers must BPSS cleared and On-Shore

EXPERIENCE
Essential skills and experience
  • Proven knowledge and a minimum of 5+ years experience of:
  • Working as a Senior IT Project Delivery Manager in a large scale organisation and/or Public Sector
  • Managing large, complex, IT projects. Successfully delivering hardware and software products and services to internal and 3rd party organisations
  • Building complex delivery plans, identifying and managing key integration points, identifying and mitigating risks, issues and dependencies with effective escalation where necessary, demonstrating ownership through to resolution
  • Tracking and managing project progress and budget, providing informative and accurate reporting to senior leaders and/or governance boards, to enable key decisions to be made
  • Actively managing decision making, governance and change, taking all cross-project impacts into account

  • Communicating consistently across internal and external stakeholders, tailoring messages to ensure that it is right for the audience and consistent with broader project/digital messaging
  • Working as a part of a large team, including internal and third party organisations, and taking the lead where necessary

  • Delivering projects using Agile and Waterfall methodologies, along with a Hybrid Approach
  • Strong understanding and practical application of the ITIL framework to deliver and operate digital services
