ABOUT THE WORK
Early market engagement
Who the specialist will work with
You will be leading an internal multidisciplinary accessibility technologies product team. You will have access to accessibility service team colleagues, leadership, digital support teams and suppliers
What the specialist will work on
You will be responsible for the definition and delivery of the Accessibility Technologies roadmap.You will work with multiple digital teams and suppliers, effectively managing technical resources, budgets, and commercial engagement to deliver critical projects and achieve desired outcomes. You will use your deep project management and leadership experience to lead an empowered team helping to achieve the Departmental strategyYou will undertake retrospectives on both internal team processes and product delivery, submitting a report to leadership which includes suggestions for improvement.

Working arrangements
Working arrangements will be a blend of remote working and working from the Sheffield HUB site, you will spend roughly 40% of your time onsite and 60% at home.

EXPERIENCE
Essential skills and experience
  • Experience setting up new delivery teams and processes, adopting and adapting project management methods/tools, selecting appropriately from plan-driven/predictive approaches and more adaptive (iterative and agile) approaches
  • Demonstrable experience of successfully planning and managing large digital projects including software development and infrastructure services
  • Significant experience of managing complex supplier relationships and multidisciplinary teams throughout delivery, with understanding of technical implementation and decisions taken, digital planning, managing internal and external dependencies, risks and issues
  • Experience in managing team dynamics, demonstrating servant leadership, coaching teams to improve flow, quality and ownership throughout the team. Dealing with conflict and help establish a positive team culture
  • Experience of guiding teams to focus on the output rather than the process. Helping a team to find and establish a process that works for them
  • Strong stakeholder management experience including working with and presenting to steering boards
  • Demonstrable history of making and justifying decisions characterised by high levels of risk, impact and complexity
Nice-to-have skills and experience
  • Experience of managing projects which require proof of accessibility standards compliance and/or accessibility software compatibility
