Who the specialist will work with
The Technical Architect will support the service manager to ensure that MOD meets its business objectives for enhanced cyber training and education. The Technical Architect will join a team which includes training and education leads, Service Manager, Delivery Manager, developer and user technical specialists. The Technical Architect will be expected to work with technical SMEs from within MOD to ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
What the specialist will work on
MOD is seeking a Technical Architect to assist with improving current services and delivering enhanced capabilities to cyber training and education. The Technical Architect will be expected to produce technical solutions architectures compliant with the Government Digital Service Standard. Define non-functional requirements and dependencies. Identify and document technical and security risks and issues and mitigation actions. Knowledge transfer to Cyber Joint User staff.

MOD Shrivenham, Faringdon Rd, Shrivenham, Swindon SN6 8LA
Working arrangements
A typical working day is 9am-5pm (however working outside of these hours may be required due to business/project need). The role will be based in MOD Shrivenham with no option for remote working. There may be travel involved to other regions of the country. Travel expenses outside of the base location will be covered.
Security clearance
DV STRAP clearance is required from the start. Cyber Joint User would not wish to have to sponsor DV applications.

Additional terms and conditions
MOD travel and subsistence policy will apply. All expenses must be pre-agreed between the parties and must comply with the MOD t&s policy.

EXPERIENCE
Essential skills and experience
  • Extensive experience working alongside MOD cyber training and education teams, partners across government and selected industrial contractors to deliver solutions to fit multiple demanding stakeholders
  • Clear ability to negotiate demanding 3rd party relations, including commercial acumen and empathy to users to deliver the required outputs.
  • Proven ability to design services to meet valid user needs including consultation on design and production of design patterns.
  • Adhere to agreed project delivery standards ensuring outputs and deliverables are fit for purpose.
  • Have a demonstrable experience liaising with external and internal items to ensure timely provisioning and implementation of quality, scalable and secure technical solutions.
  • Proven experience in use of service-based technologies such as SOAP, RESTful APIs, XML messaging and JSON.
  • Proven ability to undertake structured analysis into technical designs that describe a solution.
  • Experience Delivering outputs in line with GDS standards and assessment process.
  • Experience of working using Agile Methodology.
  • PRINCE2.
Nice-to-have skills and experience
  • Understanding of Government Digital Service design principles.
  • Experience designing services for GOV.Uk.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary agile terms.
