ABOUT THE WORK
Early market engagement
Role is outside of IR35 - there is no incumbant in place - testing market with advert for day rate
Who the specialist will work with
The existing team is comprised mostly of supplier, contract and Civil Service resources. The specialist will be expected to be embedded into current delivery teams and will be expected to lead a small team.
What the specialist will work on
We are looking for an exceptional Lead DevOps Engineer with a good balance of technical understanding and strong leadership skills who have proven experience in the development, deployment and support of services built on a track record of stability, availability and quality
WORK SETUP
Address where the work will take place
1 Pacific Quay, Glasgow - attendance on-site is required for at least four days a week, with one day of optional working from home.
Working arrangements
The specialist is expected to be on-site for at least four days a week with one day optional working from home. • Work as part of a small team of DevOps specialists and engineers ensuring services are understood • Work as a technical subject matter expert, develop the strategic and tactical engineering roadmaps for technologies reviewing and steering platform scope to ensure maximum value from investment • Build and maintain IaC artefacts, looking ahead for future opportunities or blockers, and ensuring decisions by teams align with the strategy • Identify operational improvements and work to ensure a stable service
Security clearance
SC level clearance is required for this position. Disclosure Scotland will sponsor the SC application process where the specialist does not already have SC level clearance.

Essential skills and experience
  • Technology knowledge - good experience of four or more of Best Practice secure infrastructure
  • AWS & associated tooling
  • Networking
  • Linux (CentOS or RHEL)
  • Automation Tooling: Ansible, Puppet, Terraform
  • Monitoring & Alerting
  • Making and guiding decisions
  • Capable of making and guiding effective decisions, explaining clearly how the decision has been reached
  • Able to make decisions characterised by managed levels of risk and complexity and recommend decisions as risk and complexity increase
  • Take ownership of problems and proactively resolves technical problems, ensuring that technical solutions continue to meet business requirements
  • Bridging the gap between the technical and non-technical
  • Translate technical concepts between infrastructure, delivery management and service management so they are understood by all
  • Able to speak on behalf of technical and service management teams and facilitate the relationships with indirect stakeholders
  • Able to share knowledge and mentor (potentially non-technical) colleagues
