Who the specialist will work with
The UX/UI Designer will be working within an Agile environment and expected to work closely with the Product Owner to ensure all epic designs are consistent and in uniform with the brand new in-house style guide created by our Marketing team. You'll report to the Product Owner and be expected to build a close relationship with the Project Support Officer to define work for sprints. The sprint team will consists of Software Developers who you will work collaboratively with.
What the specialist will work on
We're looking for a highly skilled UX/UI Designer to work on College Learn(CL), the newly improved user interface of the Managed Learning Environment (MLE). The platform allows Police forces nationally to complete e-Learning. The requirement is to improve design, usability, navigation and information architecture of CL whilst delivering new functionality and value. Design solutions should adopt a 'mobile first' approach. Designers will be expected to use AdobeXD to create prototypes and design specs. The product needs to be designed and coded in line with WCAG 2.0 accessibility requirements. The delivery date for the BETA for the project is March 2019.

Full-Time onsite, Monday to Friday, 36 Hours per week. Flexible working patterns will be allowed with prior agreement.

EXPERIENCE
Essential skills and experience
  • Extensive experience in producing creative and innovative visual solutions in a complex online environment, demonstrating the ability to think in challenging situations
  • Extensive experience in using AdobeXD to create prototype and design specs and the ability to communicate the design process to Software Developers
  • Extensive experience as an interactive designer using, various software’s such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Axure or Sketchup Professional
  • Thorough working knowledge and understanding of HTML5 and CSS
  • Proven understanding of accessibility issues and designing to meet accessibility guidelines
  • Experience in working from user research and data analytics to inform design prototypes; thus ensuring designs are user and data driven
  • Ability to use user-centred design methodology from start to finish to inform user journeys, navigation flow charts, wireframes and interactive prototypes
Nice-to-have skills and experience
  • Ability to carry out Instructional Design work
  • Knowledge across the digital design sector applying research in new design technologies to the benefit of the team, projects and services
  • Understanding of Policing landscape
