Specialist support augmenting the SMITS team, supporting delivery of a move to pre-emptive Event Management, involving utilisation of event management tooling licences/support, securing MOD supplier event management data, and overseeing a phased roll-out. The project forms part of the SDO Reset Programme providing capability enhancement benefits to the OSM Programme.

ABOUT THE WORK
Early market engagement
Who the specialist will work with
Civilian, Military and contractors within the (i) Service Management Integrated Technical Solutions (SMITS) Team which provides data collection and exploitation for the MOD Global Operations and Security Control Centre (GOSCC), and (ii) the Operational Service Management (OSM) Programme. The specialist will also work with supplier Commercial Contract Managers plus suppliers, including the provider of the Event Management software.
What the specialist will work on
The specialist will be augmented to the Defence Digital Service Management Integrated Technical Solutions (SMITS) team, supporting delivery of the move to adopt a pre-emptive posture in IT incident prevention, faster resolution and a significant uplift in our ability to 'discover' events taking place on MOD IT infrastructure. The specialist will: coordinate the Event Management User Group; manage Managed Service Provider event management data feed onboarding; be the point of contact for all new demand and system changes; be the Crown lead on problem resolution and Customer Services issues.

Working arrangements
The role will be based at MoD Corsham but, due to COVID, most activity will be carried out remotely and the specialist will be expected to work remotely. There will be occasions when the specialist will need to visit Corsham, for collection/return of passes, laptops, etc. and for specific meetings/workshops.
Security clearance
SC (as a minimum) must be in place prior to the contract starting due to the projects the specialist is required to work with. Clearances must remain valid for the duration of the contract.

EXPERIENCE
Essential skills and experience
  • Demonstrate, with evidence, your specialist’s experience of providing a project management capability aligned to the APM BOK 7 methodology
  • Demonstrate, with evidence, your specialist’s experience Managing suppliers, including reviewing quality, providing direction on the prioritisation of tasks, and resolving conflict
  • Demonstrate, with evidence, your specialist’s experience of operating within or supporting a SIAM-based IT Service Management operating model
  • Demonstrate, with evidence, your specialist’s experience of setting up and successful coordination of User Groups with a membership that includes IT technical specialists
Nice-to-have skills and experience
  • Demonstrate, with evidence, your specialist’s experience of the successful Project Management of UK MOD projects or UK Government projects
  • Demonstrate, with evidence, your specialist’s experience of operating within or supporting a SIAM-based IT Service Management operating model for a Government department
  • Demonstrate, with evidence, your specialist’s specific experience of IT Event Management and the SIAM-defined Event Management processes
