ABOUT THE WORK
Early market engagement
Who the specialist will work with
 The resource will work with the existing DWP BPS Delivery Team. This team has a Lead Technical Delivery Manager, Design Lead, Technical Architect and a COBOL Developer.
What the specialist will work on
 Java / Javascript developer responsible for the front-end and back-end development work for the BPS Migration Service, specifically the Configurator utility which will allow end consumers to select data items from screens, database or files (as SVG elements generated from metadata) within legacy applications for migration onto replacement systems (for example the 'Get Your State Pension' service).Will also provide support, technical guidance and help to implement development best practices. This will include coaching, mentoring and supporting team members.
WORK SETUP
Address where the work will take place
 North East - Longbenton, Newcastle OR North West - Peel Park, Blackpool.
Working arrangements
 Specialist will work 5 working days per week with a hybrid working arrangement incorporating remote and office working. Attendance on site 40% of the specialist's time is a mandatory requirement.
Security clearance
 All suppliers must be SC Government cleared and On-Shore.

Additional terms and conditions
 It is essential that the Department (DWP) holds copies of and rights to all source code developed and accompanying intellectual property rights to the code to develop further or make changes as it sees fit.

Essential skills and experience
  • Demonstrate evidence of experience of Front-end Java / Javascript development
  • Demonstrate evidence of experience of Back-end Java / Javascript development
  • Demonstrate experience of data visualisation using SVG or similar
  • Demonstrate experience of working with JSON
  • Demonstrate experience of designing visual tooling that reads and generates metadata
  • Demonstrate evidence of excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Demonstrate experience of Agile working practices
  • Demonstrate evidence of 2 years experience in this area
Nice-to-have skills and experience
  • Experience of a modern framework, e.g. REACT
  • Experience of Node.js
  • Experience of HTML5
  • Experience of CSS3
  • Experience of Typescript
