Design, build and support a platform for data scientists to query DWP data. Technical input to project planning. Document architectural designs Produce infrastructure as code. Develop automated mechanisms for deploying infrastructure and application changes. Provide ongoing skills transfer to DWP staff. Lead the engagement with external ITHC supplier

Who the specialist will work with
The DataWorks team is made up of a number of engineers & architects covering the full spectrum of big data, cloud infrastructure, security architecture, and business analysis. You'll also be expected to engage with other teams within the DWP: UCFS for systems integration Design Authority for design sign-off SRE for acceptance into service Stakeholder teams, e.g. data analysts & scientists You'll also be expected to engage with 3rd party suppliers and auditors (e.g. IT Health Check teams)
What the specialist will work on
Data ingestion from Universal Credit Full Service (UCFS), and surfacing of data to the users of the DataWorks' new AWS Data Platform
WORK SETUP
Address where the work will take place
Base location for this work will take place at: DWP offices, Quarry House, Leeds, LS27UA.
Working arrangements
Flexible working, at the discretion of the supplier to deliver the service. Some travel to other sites may be required in line with DWP travel and expense policy.
Security clearance
All applicates must be DV cleared, or at least, must be eligible to apply for DV Clearance.

Essential skills and experience
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of working with the AWS cloud platform within the last 2 years
  • Demonstrate experience of using Infrastructure as Code to provision and manage any cloud infrastructure using terraform within the last 2 years
  • Demonstrate experience of using Git and GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket within the last 2 years
  • Demonstrate knowledge of test and behaviour driven development (TDD and BDD) within the last 2 years
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment within the last 2 years
  • Demonstrate experience of using ConcourseCI to provide continuous integration and continuous deployment within the last 2 years
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) within the last 2 years
  • Demonstrate experience of using AWS CloudWatch within the last 2 years
  • Demonstrate experience of using AWS Simple Storage Service (S3) within the last 2 years
  • Demonstrate experience of using AWS Key Management Service (KMS) within the last 2 years
