ABOUT THE WORK

Who the specialist will work with
You will be working with an existing team of DevOps and Developers in the Digital Channels PDU.
What the specialist will work on
The DevOps Engineer will support the overall DevOps process along with setting the strategies for products and the wider community within the Notifications and ECMS BAU Projects.
WORK SETUP
Address where the work will take place
Remote or travel to Digital hubs if and when required.
Working arrangements
The expectation for DWP staff is to work from DWP offices for 40% of the time. Currently the Developers & DevOps teams are working remotely. This is being reviewed as we move into a post COVID era. The individual will be working to DWP Security and DWP Engineering standards, this ensures that all staff adhere to best practices and quickly learn DWP Digital practices.

EXPERIENCE
Essential skills and experience
  • Be able to produce CI/CD pipelines, ideally in GitLab CI/CD
  • Have experience in at least one primarily cloud level IaC language (I.e. Terraform)
  • Have experience in at least one primarily system level IaC language (i.e. Ansible, Terraform, Puppet)
  • Be able to produce scripts in at least one general purpose language (Python, Perl, Bash etc)
  • Have a working knowledge of AWS tools
  • Have an awareness of Linux systems administration
  • Have Strong problem solving and reverse engineering skills
  • Have an awareness of software development processes
Nice-to-have skills and experience
  • Have experience in developing monitoring/alerting stacks in Prometheus
  • Be able to produce Grafana dashboards
  • Have prior development or infrastructure engineering experience
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure
  • Have experience of supporting live systems
