Summary of the work
DE&S requires a Network Design Engineer to deliver network infrastructure projects. Supporting WAN facing capabilities, and supporting other projects as requested. Technical design is guided by the Network Architect. Technical lead in transition and test/acceptance activities. Producing documentation i.e. LLD, build guides/operating instructions in support of project delivery objectives.

Who the specialist will work with
Reporting to DE&S who are managing the project delivery of a number of networks and Information Systems. The incumbent will collaborate with multidisciplined technical architects, engineers, and other functions to deliver project outputs. The incumbent will be primarily responsible for development of an industry standard Service Delivery Pack, this is to include but not limited to: • Low Level Design • Combined Design Document (HLD/LLD) • Support Task Analysis • Security Impact Statement • Knowledge Articles • Work Instructions • Test Plans • Test Cases
What the specialist will work on
Lead the project engineering & documentation of DE&S assigned projects as part of the Design Authority under direction of the Network Architect for DeliveryTeam PMs. 1. Install hardware and software in accordance with the HLD & LLD. 2. Maintain hardware/software in accordance with design & support documentation, modifying network device configurations as requested. 3. Update or replace existing documents as directed. 4. Develop test procedures to prove correct configuration of solution in accordance with the documentation. 5. Establish the ‘As-is’ physical and logical state for assigned networks. 6. Produce the ‘To be’ rationalisation recommendations for authorisation by the NetworkArchitect.

Working arrangements
The contractor shall provide on-site attendance Outside of Working Hours (OWH) for the achievement of selected high priority deliverables. The Contractor will be required to work on the main site from day 1 and for the duration of the contract due to the specifics of the role with the potential to travel if required.
Security clearance
MOD DV Clearance is required on day 1 and for the duration of the Contract. Applicants must be a sole UK national (no dual nationals can be accepted)

EXPERIENCE
Essential skills and experience
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) (Routing and Switching)
  • Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP)
  • 3-5 years minimum demonstrable experience in project engineering of LAN & WAN technologies based on IP cryptography
  • Configuration and administration within a production environment of: OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, VPN/Tunnel technologies including IPSec, QoS
  • Required to work on the main site from day 1 and for duration of Contract due to specifics of role with potential to travel if required
Nice-to-have skills and experience
  • CCIE (Routing and Switching)
  • CCNA (Collaboration)
  • CCNA (Security)
  • Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA)
  • Python Certified Entry-Level Programmer (PCEP)
  • Programming for Network Engineers (PRNE) (proof of course completion)
  • L3 TRL cryptographic equipment (Catapan) (proof of course completion)
  • Implementation and administration of encrypted IP tunnelling of classified network traffic across various bearers
  • OSPF configuration and management, EIGRP, BGP, L3 TRL Catapan, Nexus-OS
  • Linux OS, QoS and DSCP marking, Policy Based Routing, logging and analysis tools (e.g. PRTG, Splunk, Solar Winds)
  • DMVPN, Cisco networking equipment
  • Dell networking equipment, Juniper firewall equipment, Oracle Communications equipment
  • VoIP and video teleconferencing, RBAC administration and Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)
