Who the specialist will work with
Engage with PNC network team &Stakeholders supporting BAU legacy services, programmes and projects. To deliver some of Network design work, external stakeholder engagement should be expected. Responsible for operational support &delivery of design specifications. Activities required to understand the following technologies: • Proxies Trustwave applied as web proxies; Clearswift applied as a mail proxy. Network administration of DNS &mail servers (Microsoft &open-source). Knowledge of :- • Cisco switch &router configuration. Specifically, 6500,2900 series switches RT101 routers, • Firewall configuration Cisco PIX and ASA series, Checkpoint 12400 and 5400 models. • Bespoke administration of automated open-source FTP and SMTP mail-transfer system.
What the specialist will work on
Primarily supporting Subject Matter Experts with live service issues. The specialist shall also articulate specifications to a level that an implementation team can use, and use and refine these specifications with technical colleagues and delivery partners. Specialist expertise shall be available to consult with such as live service teams and other specialist technical teams.

Working arrangements
The post is based at Hendon and most physical duties will be carried out at this site. Some meetings can be by conference call, but significant design meetings are expected to be face-to-face at a Home Office location or partner visit. Existing Subject Matter can assist post holders on information and requirements.
Security clearance
SC or ability to be SC cleared and will require NPPV3.

Additional terms and conditions
T&S will not be payable for travel to sites within the M25. Travel outside of the M25 will be subject to the Home Office T&S policy.

EXPERIENCE
Essential skills and experience
  • Over the last 3-5 years to have administration of DNS, Mail servers and file transfer systems inclusive of relevant proxies used to exchange data to external authorities.Over the last 3-5 years to have an understanding of firewalls specifically Cisco ASA and PIX and Checkpoint. Familiarity in configuration/modification of policies to effect business change.Over the last 3-5 years to have an understanding of core network concepts as applied to classic Cisco network components applied in switching and routeing.Over the last 3-5 years experience &ability to faultfind on complex-networks dealing with end-to-end application incidents. Utilizing application-toolsets, Ciscosets, Cisco-IOS, firewalls-logging &diagnostic features &external tools provided by SNMP &network-sniffing applications.
Nice-to-have skills and experience
  • Knowledge and experience of building, configuring, transitioning, administering and supporting infrastructure technologies and solutions such as: Cisco ACI/UCS.Knowledge and experience of proactively resolving technical problems, ensuring that technical solutions continue to meet business requirements taking accountability for actions taken and decisions made.Demonstrable evidence of responding to incident reports, ensuring relevant prioritisation and detail to allow for effective investigation.Knowledge of proxy management both mail and web proxies as applied within DMZ’s.
