Who the specialist will work with
The existing team is augmented with a mix of Civil Servants and other 3rd party supplier resource.The specialist will work with the UX Team Lead, Senior User Researcher and other User Researchers, Designers and Business Analyst in the UX team. They will collaborate with colleagues in the Change & Adoption team, and deliver work for product owners and other stakeholders across Technology Services and other business areas.
What the specialist will work on
The specialist will help to define future Design services provided by the UX team, begin to deliver those services and oversee all user design project work related to Technology Services and partner initiatives including Workplace Transformation and Digital Confidence and Capability. They will be responsible for leading other designers (up to 3 people), mentoring and working with them to ensure work and services are of good quality. Advocate for the needs of users, framing problems and co-designing user journeys and services to meet these needs with best-practice approaches
WORK SETUP
Address where the work will take place
Working arrangements will be a blend of remote working and working from the Manchester HUB site, you will spend roughly 40% of your time onsite and 60% at home.Specialist will work 5 working days per week . Normal working hours are defined as 8am - 4pm / 9am - 5pm
Working arrangements
You will be working as part of an internal multidisciplinary knowledge management team, you will have access to wider resources such as research and design if required. Delivering iterative improvements to end user knowledge held within the ServiceNow toolset, working on a defined set of priorities owned and managed by the DWP. In practical terms, the context of the work to be managed is to consider existing information and guidance within Knowledge Articles removing unnecessary narrative, reduce and simplify complex, technical language using basic principles to present simple language that is easier to understand and act upon.
Security clearance
The supplier will be required to hold BPSS security clearance as a minimum.

EXPERIENCE
Essential skills and experience
  • Experienced Service Designer with working knowledge of service design practices
  • Able to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Lead / facilitate workshops to drive actionable outcomes
  • Create high quality service design deliverables
  • Leading or managing others
  • Advocating for users and their journeys when communicating with stakeholders and senior leadership
  • Understands the social and technological context for government services
Nice-to-have skills and experience
  • Experienced Service Designer with excellent working knowledge of service design practices, understanding user needs and designing services that meet them
  • Able to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to understand user behaviour, feedback, and co-design solutions to meet those needs
  • Lead / facilitate workshops with stakeholders from multiple business areas to drive actionable outcomes
  • Create high quality service design deliverables, including experience and journey maps, and service blueprints
  • Has experience of managing or leading people within a team, ensuring work quality, guiding and mentoring regarding best practice
  • Advocating for users and optimising their journeys by educating and influencing persuasively when communicating with stakeholders and senior leadership
  • Demonstrate experience of working in a large scale organisation and/or Government or Public Sector
  • Digital Workplace experience
