An experienced developer is needed to: Work on the continuous development of HEE's National Data Warehouse (SQL server 2016, which is deployed on Azure) Onboard 100+ datasets into the National Data Warehouse and refine these to meet user needs.

You'll be expected to work with the following: - Scrum Master, Service Manager (Product Owner) and wider Team (incl. data analysts, other developers and senior management) Stakeholders such as: - Business Managers and subject experts - Others involved in the education and training of the multi professional healthcare workforce
What the specialist will work on
The Health Education England Data Programme has been established with the aim of providing the business with ‘a single source of the truth’ via the National Data Warehouse. The Data Warehouse is SQL server 2016 based service and consists of a number of database servers deployed in the Azure cloud environment. Our current requirements framework has identified over 100 datasets that need to be onboarded to meet user needs.

Working arrangements
To be in the London office for core days and flexible working is subject to arrangement. The role is outside of IR35. With regards to time frames that we are working to: Shortlisting week commencing 8th April Interviews week commencing 15th April (we will conduct Skype interviews on Monday followed by in person interviews Wednesday onwards) Start week commencing 22nd April

EXPERIENCE
Essential skills and experience
  • Have Microsoft Azure, particularly with reference to data warehouse architecture (IaaS and PaaS)
  • Have database development using SSMS 2014 or higher experience
  • Have ETL development / deployment using SSIS 2014 or higher experience
  • Have data modelling / validation experiences
  • Have DBA skills (server management, SQL jobs management, scheduling, scaling, backup / restore, security, account management / permissions, server objects, replication)
  • Have process automation experience
  • Have BI tools (particularly Tableau / PowerBI) experience
  • Have experience of different flavours of SQL (MySQL, Postgres etc)
  • Have experience of Python, PowerShell, Bash
  • Have experience of source control (preferably Git)
  • Have experience of orchestration options
  • Have experience of collaboration tools (e.g. MS Teams / Slack / JIRA)
  • Have experience of Agile working methods
Nice-to-have skills and experience
  • Communicate effectively, with a friendly, approachable manner
  • Collaborate with / challenge / assist HEE staff to identify, develop and deploy best practice approaches to data warehousing
  • Work using our own agile project management approach, taking independent responsibility for significant work
  • Work with analysts to assist with data set specifications and the formulation of data models for data set representation in the data warehouse.
  • Assess analysts' abilities to conduct their own on-boarding activities, configuring jobs and automation, identifying suitable data sets and providing training as appropriate
  • Support process design and maintain documentation, including training manuals / user guidance
  • Work within a healthcare domain with awareness of maintaining confidentiality and implementing data protection legislation / information governance requirements
  • Identify and manage / report risks
