Summary of the work
The existing data structure and data holdings within DART are the result of an evolution of the tool over several years. DART was originally conceived to capture data about MOD system. This data needs to be analysed, better structured, made complete and then exploited for the benefit of Defence.

Who the specialist will work with
The Data Scientist will work with the CySAAS DART and Acreditation team to analyse and manipulate existing DART data, improve reporting metrics and identify data attributes that will inform the discovery phase of DART2.
What the specialist will work on
1. Engage with stakeholders across Defence to determine Reporting Metrics required from DART. 2. Identify key data attributes and data value streams within DART.3. source, access, manipulate and engineer data processes from DART data that typically have characteristics of volume, velocity and variety.4. Exploring and visualising DART data to present the ‘story’ of data in a meaningful way to a range of technical and non-technical audiences
WORK SETUP
Address where the work will take place
RAF Wyton, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.Remote at CySAAS Tooling Lead discretion.
Working arrangements
Your primary location will be RAF Wyton. You will be expected to work on-site most of the time. You will need to be on-site because the role will see interaction with key individuals across CySAAS as well as access classified information.
Security clearance
Have SC clearance, or capable of getting SC clearance before the contract start date.

All expenses must be pre-agreed between the parties and must comply with the MOD Travel and Subsistence (T&S) Policy.

EXPERIENCE
Essential skills and experience
  • Proven experience as a Data Scientist
  • BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field; graduate degree in Data Engineering or other numerical field is preferred
  • Experience of Agile development CI/CD pipeline 3. Ability to produce usable metrics from large data sets
  • You know how to undertake data profiling and source system analysis and can present clear insights to colleagues to support the end use of the data
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Understanding of linking data feeds between different tools to exploit common data
Nice-to-have skills and experience
  • Can demonstrate experience of working with data that informs risk management decisions
