Who the specialist will work with
A multi-disciplinary agile team including User Researcher, UX designer, Junior developers, data scientists, tester, dev ops, infrastructure, and product manager.
What the specialist will work on
• Development of existing Search & Network Visualisation tool. • Key enabling activities include; o Refactoring front end code from Angular to REACT o Refactoring data ingestion pipeline to process streamed data o Enhance ability to perform increased analytical querying of the graph database • Add new capabilities into the tool in line with user feedback, including; o bug fixes, o enhancements to usability, o accessibility enhancements, o and features (such as search with name synonyms, network timebar filter, interactive help sections, add new data feeds) • Support junior members of the team
WORK SETUP
Address where the work will take place
Work will be carried out from a Home Office location primarily in Croydon and as required and in Suppliers’ offices.
Working arrangements
The work will require the individual to work within an agile multidisciplinary product team in London. The team will work from the base location as required, Monday to Friday 09:00 – 17:00. Participation in stand-ups, planning sessions, show & tells and retrospectives as required. Some travel to stakeholder buildings within the M25 area is expected at regular (weekly) intervals. Additional travel outside of London may be required on a less frequent rate, to conduct research with users in other Home Office locations. Expenses outside the M25 will be payable in accordance with the Home Office Travel (no Subsistence) policy.
Security clearance
All staff must be Home Office SC cleared before they can start work.

Additional terms and conditions
Statements of work will be agreed periodically with the supplier on a fixed price, capped, or T&M basis with agreed deliverables. Standard DOS framework and call-off terms and conditions. Expenses outside the M25 will be payable in accordance with the Home Office Travel (no Subsistence) policy. Adherence to DSA and HO security governance and standards is mandatory.

EXPERIENCE
Essential skills and experience
  • Expertise in node.js with a commitment to writing clean code and comprehensive, clear tests
  • Expertise in front end development (single page javascript applications using typescript with react and angular)
  • Experience of Elastic search and/or Graph databases
  • Experience in CI/CD Pipelines, especially with Kubernetes
  • Understanding of web services (particularly REST), their pitfalls and best practice
  • Demonstrable significant experience of Agile ways of working
Nice-to-have skills and experience
  • Experience in supporting all aspects of user story development including analysis, testing and deployment
  • Experience of the Government Digital Service’s Design Principles and Digital Service Standard and its application to internal products and services
  • Some experience of supporting live systems
