The Deposit Return scheme includes the collection of plastic bottles made from PET, aluminium and steel cans and glass bottles throughout all of Scotland. The Deposit Return Scheme infrastructure needs for an effective logistics network across Scotland to collect materials and centralised collection points before then being transported for reprocessing.

What the specialist will work on
Zero Waste Scotland is seeking a Contractor to provide advice upon the infrastructure needs for an effective logistics network across Scotland. The contract will: a) Utilise logistics software that can map return locations; b) Calculate the optimum number of bulking points and counting centres using different scenarios; c) Calculate costs associated with each scenario; d) Present several optimum network infrastructure options to Zero Waste Scotland in order to strike the balance between costs of vehicle movements, bulking points and counting centres.
WORK SETUP
Address where the work will take place
The work can be conducted at any location. However as part of the contract management the successful supplier will attend meetings at the Zero Waste Scotland's offices, Moray House, Stirling, You may also be required to attend meeting with logistical suppliers, stakeholders from time to time. The locations will be based in Scotland
Working arrangements
There is no defined working arrangements as long as the deliverables are achieved and within budget Please note that Zero Waste Scotland hours of work comprise a 35-hour week, between 09:00 and 17:00 on weekdays only, Monday to Friday inclusive.
